Candle Facts + Care

What wax do we use?

We use Golden Brands 464, a natural soy wax from US grown soybeans. It's an all-natural, plant-based wax known for its smooth, creamy finish and excellent fragrance throw. This wax has a small amount of soy-based additives to help reduce frosting (which happens with real soy wax).

Do we use paraffin wax?

No. Our goal is to stay away from paraffin wax as much as we can. So far, we haven't had to use any type of paraffin wax in our candles. Paraffin is a byproduct of crude oil refinement. Paraffin wax is petroleum based and can release toxins when burned.

What does this mean about our candles since we do not use paraffin wax?

Because we do not use paraffin wax, our candles may not be as smooth as other candles after that first burn, this is why our Candle Care Instructions guide is so crucial to follow for our candles.

What do we use to scent our candles?

We only use high quality fragrance oils that are specifically made for candles (and soaps & diffusers), we do not use essential oils in our candles. Because we use all-natural soy wax, our candles may not have a strong scent throw like a paraffin wax candle, however we have had many reviews that our candles throw a decent scent in a medium sized space.

Why does my wick "mushroom"?

The "mushroom" shape that forms at the end of our candle wicks at times is a buildup of carbon, where the flame consumes more wax than it can burn. Some wicks are prone to mushrooming. It is recommended you trim the excess carbon before every burn to ensure a clean burn every time. Make sure to avoid drafts when burning your candle, burn to get a complete melt pool (when the wax melts to the edge of the vessel), and extinguish properly by using a snuffer or wick dipper to dip the wick in the wax to extinguish it.

How many candles do we make at one time?

We are a small batch candle company, all hand poured by us right here in our little kitchen in Lubbock Tx! We make about 30-40 candles at one time. For our candles to have a decent scent throw (how well they smell when lit), they must cure for at least 7-14 days. This means we have to let them sit for at least a week before they are ready to be burned. This curing time is crucial for the fragrance oil to bind with the wax and produce a better scent throw.

How long will our candles last?

Unburned, our candles should be good for about 1-2 years. Unlike paraffin wax candles, that can last virtually forever, natural soy wax candles do expire about 1-2 years after being poured.
